Professional Development workshops encourage teachers to use the arts to enhance basic classroom instruction. Learning vocabulary or math is more fun when your student has learned to make his own little accordion booklet with a new surprise on each page!
How do teachers benefit from these workshops?
•They develop an arts literacy with “how to” tips as well as fill larger goals of developing the reading curriculum with arts activities
•Teachers who complete our courses qualify for in-service credits toward salary increase or teacher training rate.
•Teachers become advocates of arts education after observing increased student self-esteem resulting from new creative ways to learn the basics
Serve as a logical backup for teachers who have BAE teaching artists visiting their classroom. Four 2-hour sessions in music, dance, drama or visual arts built around arts activities of interest are offered to course registrants. Teachers learn best practices and specific skills from BAE artists, to enhance teaching their own students.
