Celebrate Independence Day With Free Concert in Van Cortlandt Park

CELEBRATE INDEPENDENCE DAY WITH A FREE CONCERT IN VAN CORTLANDT PARK

The Bronx Arts Ensemble Jazz and Dixieland Band opens SUMMERMUSIC 2016 with patriotic and popular favorites by George M. Cohan, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Richard Rodgers, Jerome Kern, Harold Arlen, W.C. Handy, and Cole Porter at a FREE concert in Van Cortlandt Park at Rockwood Drive Circle near Mosholu Avenue and Broadway on Monday, July 4 at 2 pm in celebration of Independence Day. Seating is provided but the audience is urged to bring folding chairs.

In the event of rain, the concert will be moved to Vladeck Hall in the Amalgamated Houses at the corner of Hillman Avenue and Van Cortlandt Park South. Please check our Facebook page or Twitter  feed or contact the BAE office after 11 am on the day of the performance.

The BAE Jazz and Dixieland Band includes vocalist Cathy Gale, Jack Gale, Leader/Trombone; David Gale, Trumpet; Michael Titlebaum, Reeds; Linc Milliman, Bass/Tuba; Eric Goletz, Keyboard
and Michael Hinton, Drums.

SUMMERMUSIC 2016 free concert series continues on Sundays with Golden Oldies on July 17, String Breezes in the Woods on July 24, Hot Tangos! on July 31 and Summer Winds on August 7 in Van Cortlandt Park and Fordham University. Twilight Concerts on Fridays in Pelham Bay Park at Middletown Road and Stadium Avenue include Golden Oldies on July 15 and New Orleans Jazz on August 12 and Latin Jazz on September 16 in Bronx Bark East at Lydig Avenue.
