MAKE ARTS POSSIBLE
Bronx youth need YOUR help now more than ever.
Bronx Arts Ensemble (BAE) brings the power of the Arts to thousands in neighborhoods across the Bronx through Live Music performances and Arts Education programs. Gifts from people like YOU, who value the arts, made numerous activities possible during this last year. We hope you will consider supporting us today.
Bronx schools are struggling to provide arts education to their students at a time when the future of arts education is in peril. For many of our school-aged children a class with a BAE teaching artist is their only exposure to the measurable benefits of arts and culture. BAE’s outstanding arts programming was just recognized and expanded with five additional Cultural After School Adventure (CASA) school sites — help us to appropriately launch these new programs!”
This year marks the loss of our founder, Bill Scribner, who worked more than 40 years to bring BAE from its beginnings as a wind quintet to its present status as the preeminent live music and arts-in-education institution in the Bronx. Here are highlights from the last 12 months:
• BAE brought music, movement and visual arts to over 6000 students in 42 Bronx public schools through 70 teaching artists. BAE’s school day and after-school programs, involved children in the creative process, making them aware of the arts’ importance and building audiences for the future.
• BAE presented the 2016 Young Bronx Artist Award to two promising music students, soprano Linda Collazo and pianist Craig Murray, who received a cash award and opportunities to perform with BAE during the 2016-2017 season.
• Our own Ensemble musicians and exceptional guest artists perform a variety of styles of music in accessible venues throughout the Bronx. Our past season included thirty-five small ensemble concerts, nine orchestral concerts and fourteen Summer Music free concerts, ranging from Jazz to Tango to Golden Oldies.
• In our next 12 months, BAE will add a new Voyages series with a mix of Jazz, Tango and multimedia at alternative public spaces in the Bronx. This series reflects our ongoing commitment to honoring our diverse cultures.
Please give generously and consider becoming a sustaining member with a recurring gift.
