The 2023 Van Cortlandt Park Alliance and Bronx Arts Ensemble Juneteenth Celebration began with music, spoken word and special guests. It continued with a drum procession to the Enslaved African Burial Ground for a libation ceremony, honoring the memory of the enslaved African people who built the park.
Guest artists included renowned drummer Baba Don Babatunde, actress Ashley Hart Adams, violist Judith Insell, Courtney Carey Stars of Tomorrow Concert Chorale, and West African drummer Yahaya Kamate.
