Winters is Grammy-nominated for her work on NBC Live Jesus Christ Superstar with EGOT recipient John Legend. A Broadway veteran, she’s been seen in Motown the Musical, Pippin, and “working it” as the Schuyler Sisters in Hamilton. Today, Winters is back on Broadway in the role that made her a Broadway baby: Nala in Disney’s The Lion King.
Inspired by the art of storytelling, Winters’ latest writing project celebrates the life of American icon Lena Horne in a one-woman play with music, entitled LENA: A Moment with a Lady. Through words and music, Lena, portrayed by Winters, attempts to relate the most pivotal personal and professional moments in her life. On a mission to share the truth, she unexpectedly opens the emotional crevices that have eluded her for years.
