Spring Celebration! Join the Bronx Arts Ensemble at the New York Botanical Garden’s Ross Hall for a celebration of spring! The Bronx Arts Ensemble woodwind quintet will perform a concert of works inspired by or evocative of the natural world.
Valerie Coleman’s cheerful Umoja; an excerpt from Aaron Copland’s monumental Appalachian Spring; John MacDowell’s To a Wild Rose transcribed by BAE clarinetist Mitchell Kriegler; Amy Beach’s meditative Pastorale; Danish composer Carl Nielsen’s 1922 quintet, which was composed as an exploration of his fondness for wind instruments and his love of nature, and his fascination for living, breathing things.
