Native Soul is a band that brings together the separate-but-equal talents of four very talented artists. The main constant, however, is the musicianship. Their sound is so well melded that the four players suggest the wealth of tone and sound produced by the Big Bands. But they go a step beyond big sound and instead turn into a quartet where it is impossible to single out a lead player.
The Latin Jazz Workshop, named for Charles Mingus’ Jazz Workshop, is an ensemble that performs mostly original music as well as an eclectic variety of arrangements of music by composers as varied as Thelonious Monk, Kurt Weill, Jimi Hendrix, Rafael Hernandez, John Lennon, and Wayne Shorter.

Centering around Ravel's String Quartet in F Major, the program will also feature the guitar music of Haitian composer Frantz Casséus and the string music of Germaine Tailleferre, member of the infamous French composers' collective Les Six.
